Brief introduction to Krishna

Dr. Krishna Agarwal is working as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in Immunology at Harvard Medical School. He is a young physician who has been a leader, innovator and mentor for many. As a second year medical student he founded and organized the Medical Students' International Conference (MEDSICON) at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi for three consecutive years from 2011 to 2013. MEDSICON is an academic opportunity for medical students, residents and fellows to share their research ideas with the medical fraternity and to be mentored by faculty leaders. It started as a national level conference and grew to be a global event when over 450 delegates representing 105 medical schools from around the world participated in 2013 with the sincere efforts of Dr. Agarwal. He served Indian Medical Association as a National Executive Board Member under the banner of IMA-SW, representing student interests at policy level discussions with Government of India and also as the Regional Director-North. He is also Co-Founder of I-MediSTAR (Innovation in Medical Science, Technology and Research) and continues to mentor a team of young innovative physicians in their quest for medical innovations. In 2014, Dr. Agarwal authored the book Review of Surgery for Students. The book is published by Peepee Publishers & Distributors Pvt. Ltd. based in Delhi and is available to order online. Dr. Agarwal is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Immunology, Transplant Immunology at The Transplant Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston. With his team, he focuses on studying the role of various immunoregulatory cells and the novel myeloid derived suppressor cells in the development of transplant tolerance and autoimmune diseases like Diabetes mellitus. Their aim is to use these regulatory cells to achieve complete immunological tolerance in an allograft transplant.
